November 2006 Albermarle Event Review

The day kicked off at 10.30am, the sun made an appearance but sadly it was not going to be hot day the wind had an unfortunate wind chill factor which brought a very shocking cold temperature to models and flyers. With a lot of flyers sitting in their cars the day was off to bad start. As the day got on however the sun made a better appearance and heated some of us up for a few minutes.

There was a couple of flights before 11.00am as we stopped for a two silence in remembrance. After 11.00am the day got better with most flyers getting off the ground and have a flying session. There were over twenty  transmitters logged in to the transmitter control.

The weather got a little better throughout the day, the wind started to subside allowing the modelling fun to continue with small electronic flying in the form of shock flyer models. The main model type of the day was the glow powered models. There was also a collection of petrol powered models, mutli engine powered models and electric powered models. Rocket Ron attended with his F15 turbine, he was very helpful in using his turbine to warm everyone’s hands up while powering down.

There were many clubs in attendance to this event, members from Chester Le Street, Washington, Teesside, Blyth and Newcastle clubs. The event went on with out a hitch for most of the day, there was only one minor crash for the event. Many cameras were on the flight line for the event taking some rather good snaps. Tony was also visible on the flight line with his video camera filming models throughout the day.

Overall the day went very smoothly without any hitches, it was a great day although it was cold and quite windy at times but everyone had a good flying session and had a giggle doing it therefore it was a great success.
